Look at me, posting on LinkedIn
A few posts, a couple of comments and two smiley face reactions. At this rate I’ll have followers flocking over…..
For someone who built greetful because tech frustrates the life out of me, this feels like a personal victory.
My latest post is what brought me here. All I wanted to do was share a simple landscape image. You wouldn’t think that would be too difficult. I’m here, two days later, to tell you that it can be. Especially if you have no idea how LinkedIn works or where anything lives.
LinkedIn is exactly the kind of platform that sends my patience into hiding. Nothing behaves the way you expect it to. Nothing is where you think it should be. At least, not for me.
So here’s the story. I’ll keep it short.
My husband came up with a great idea for a post. In fact, a whole series. Take a piece of artwork and add a funny line that links back to greetful.
Perfect. I loved it. Into Canva I went. Sorted it. Popped it on Facebook. Easy. Popped it on Instagram. Fine. Popped it on Link… oh. No. No, this was not going to be simple.
LinkedIn’s idea of a preview is not the preview of what you will actually see. LinkedIn’s preview is the top half of what you will see. Apparently.
So after stretching the image, moving the wording, putting it on a canvas, trying A4, trying not‑A4, putting the strapline next to it, above it, below it, and generally losing the will to live, I discovered that my original idea would have worked all along.
And because words don’t quite convey the chaos, here’s the visual evidence.
All of this in this heat, with 27 tabs open, and a level of determination I didn’t even know I had.
Anyway, I hope you like our new Art Series. If it raises a smile, then all this wrestling was worth it.
